Since its founding in 1994, Trailer Park Group has been a leader in the entertainment marketing landscape, counting many of the world’s most successful brands, media companies, networks, studios, and streaming platforms among its longstanding clients.
During the lockdown in 2020, the media and entertainment industry faced seismic shifts as consumer media habits changed dramatically – movie ticket sales flatlined, while streaming platform subscriptions and time spent online gaming skyrocketed. Enter Trailer Park Group’s “from disruption to transformation” moment – and our collective next-level growth partnership opportunity.
In 2021, Trailer Park Group accepted an investment from Erie Street and Origami Capital Partners to adapt the business to meet evolving customer needs and further its competitive advantage across the entertainment marketing landscape – through industry-leading production innovation, international expansion to serve clients globally, and state-of-the-art technology systems to support Trailer Park Group’s award-winning talent, whether working in-studio or virtually.
Transforming to Maximize Potential
In the first year of partnership, we worked with Trailer Park Group to help adapt the business in the context of today’s growing and evolving media landscape, creating a strong foundation for the future. Together, working side-by-side with members of the Trailer Park Group team, our efforts spanned four key transformation areas: leadership & talent, revenue enhancement, strategic M&A, and operational efficiency.
Leadership & Talent
Erie Street partnered with Lacey Lake Leadership on a human capital assessment to better understand opportunities to improve on the employee experience, including an employee experience platform. We also partnered with the CEO of Trailer Park Group and Lacey Lake Leadership to round out the leadership team with key hires, including a Chief Operating Officer, Managing Director of APAC, SVP of Global Production, and Global Chief People Officer. We also bolstered the Learning & Development program and provided Trailer Park Group’s leadership team access to strategic development and growth resources, including coaching and executive advisory services.
Revenue Enhancement
Partnering with the CEO, we studied current revenue streams as well as designed and aligned on a vision for future growth. Trailer Park Group, in partnership with Erie Street, has developed and is executing on a holistic go-to-market plan to scale offerings, verticals, and geographies – what we call “revenue by design” – to ensure strategic growth.
Strategic M&A
Adding three new assets in the first year, Trailer Park Group has made strategic investments to expand both its geographic reach, which now spans London (MXW) and Mumbai (White Turtle Studios), as well as client categories, which now includes a robust gaming service offering (Mutiny, Dark Burn Creative).
Operational Efficiency
As Trailer Park Group was a carve-out, we started by fortifying its operational foundation, with investments in IT and Human Capital infrastructure to scale with the growth of the business. New financial reporting processes were also put in place to support monthly operations meetings and quarterly board meetings. Three Erie Street executive team members also provide strategic as well as hands-on guidance as members of the Trailer Park Group board.
